The Different Types of Allergic Reactions
Allergies are quite common today with practically everyone suffering from some form of allergy or the other. It is the overreaction of the immune system to antigens like bee stings, some food, insect stings or pollen that triggers an allergy. There are different types of allergic reactions that manifest itself in different ways in the body.
Allergy can be mild or severe in nature. It is mild when its symptoms are not alarming and with minimal intervention and elimination of the allergen you'll be well. But if a person is experiencing breathing difficulty and altered level of consciousness due to an allergic response, he is in severe case of allergy which is a life threatening condition known as anaphylaxis.
One type of allergic reaction is seasonal allergic rhinitis, or hay fever. This is an allergic response to pollen and other microscopic substances that exist at certain times of the year. There are also conditions where allergic rhinitis works out to be perennial, or year round.
Insect stings is another type of allergic reaction, which is very common. The allergic reaction of the insect sting varies from person to person. Some people are not aware of their allergy to insect stings only they found out if they are stung by the insect. First sting produces only a normal sting reaction only the second sting triggers an allergy reaction.
Allergy to latex is also type of allergic reactions , it is a natural product form the light milky fluid extracted by the rubber tree. A person is allergic to the latex from the latex mixture. Such as making for rubber gloves, balloons, and condoms.
Another types of allergic reactions are the irritant contact dermatitis and allergic contact dermatitis, these could we get from the ingredients in the cosmetics we used like fragrances and preservatives. With cosmetic allergy you will experience skin irritation. Mold allergy is another allergy that does not have exact season as mold and fungi grow in all weather and thrive both indoors and outdoors. Some forms of outdoor mold tend to grow in higher concentrations from spring to late fall.
Some people are allergic to pets; where it is not the pet's feathers or fur that triggers a reaction. It is the invisible flakes of animal skin called dander that triggers sneezing, watery eyes and stuffy noses in some people. When you suffer from food allergies, it means that some food likes peanuts and jalapeos trigger an allergic reaction.
Food allergies are due to sensitivity of some to the ingredients of the food taken. Manifestations include hives, throat and tongue swelling, vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and hypotension.
