Which Suv to buy? (Chicago)?
Hi all,
I am moving to Chicago in January and i am faced with a task of selecting a car for my mother :/.
Now for my self i have already have a Honda CBR600 F4i in storage waiting for me (got it as 17th bday present).
But for my mom (a 36 year old woman) i deiced that she would suit best in a SUV because i imagine would work better in Chicago winter?
So i narrowed down Lincoln Navigator (03) or a newer Ford Explorer (06).
Is difficult because while the Navigator (ultimate luxury version) has all the Luxury and Navigation system. The Explorer is newer and i am not sure if the Navigator is reliable? But then again Explorer lacks leather and Navigation. Which mean we'll have to buy an external unit since my mom has no sense of direction.
So folks, What do you think?
Which one would be best? You're welcome to suggest another car. But it has to be comfortable (hence why i selected Navigator cuz it has indepedent rear suspension) and have sat Nav.

Where in Chicago are you moving? If you are down town and do not have parking in your building, you don't need a car take public transit. Parking is expensive in the city. If down town and that does not work for you, the explorer as it will be easier to park with the available parking. If your are moving to the suburbs, I imagine the more Navigator will offer you more comfort, bells and whistles.
Other than that, why are you fixated on Fords/Lincolns? She can lease a Cadillac Escalade for as low as the Navigator and it is a far better vehicle all the way around. If you go with the Ford/Lincoln though, do your homework on price. Lease the vehicle don't buy it. And make sure the cap coast is the same price you negotiate. Always buy things that appreciate like houses and lease things that depreciate like automobiles.
