To get started homeschooling, you need to determine how you want to design your curriculum.   The days of sitting around the kitchen table with a “canned” curriculum are past.   Many families will use bits and pieces of different curricula to create something that works for their family.   Of course, there are many wonderful comprehensive curricula.  However, don’t feel like this is your only option, because you can define for yourself what you think works.

Unschooling is the least restrictive style of homeschooling, where parents design learning experiences based on their child’s individual interests.   Unschoolers rebuff the institutional setting of traditional schools because they believe that it drives away a love of learning.  Another popular option is the “classical” education, a curriculum steeped in the long traditions of Western culture.

Still others turn to all-in-one curricula delivered online or through workbooks.   Another option still is unit studies, where a subject is chosen from which all areas of learning are explored through that subject.   For example, a family might study ancient Egypt, and explore the history, mathematics, and read stories.

As you can see, there is plenty to explore as you contemplate homeschooling.   Explore the many options associated with homeschooling, and decide for yourself!

Many people are unaware of the hundreds of homeschooling, scholarship and grant and student loans opportunities available with many educational institutions that have developed financial assistance programs. Home schooling your children? Is art part of your curriculum planning?

Including art in your daily lesson plans will ensure the best education for your kids
When I say good art I am not talking about the standard traditional arts and crafts that is done in so many preschool and kindergarten classrooms all over the world. If you are doing Kids Crafts then hopefully you are already doing crafts with your kids that does not make them into robots.

It is a s a result of classroom teachers lack of understanding of art for children, that causes them to resort to the same copycat crafts for kids.
But this can’t be what you want. Parents that choose home schooling over tradtional schooling are doing it because they want more for their kids
I'm sure if you knew that by following cookie cutter directions in making projects, it would turn them into robots, you would not want that for your children. Am I right?
What I’m really talking about here is not only good crafts for kids but real art that often gets lost in the shuffle.
That's too bad because art adds such depth to any curriculum that it would be a crying shame as you are at home and are able to give such great activities to your children .
Art is wonderful and exciting and adds great skills. Here are five good skills that art adds to any curriculum
1.    Art  will help build physical coordination- Art is good for both gross motor coordination AND fine motor coordination. Gross motor skills and fine motor skills when using their large and fine muscles in activities like cutting, painting, coloring and drawing.
2.    Emotional development is addressed-. Pounding on clay is better than pounding on a sibling, as is coloring furiously better than pinching. When children have art to use at their will, they can work through traumas like family death and fires much more easily
3.   Intellectual development can be tied in- Children learn to make sense of their world as they use art to count, classify, sort, make their own decisions and learn to follow directions without doing cookie cutter art.
4.    Creativity is tremedously affected-Of course children's creativity takes a flying leap if they are allowed to do art that allows them to create at their own level, which allows them to be creative in more ways than one
5.    Integrating curriculum happens naturally- And last but not least art in a home schooling curriculum can help integrate the curriculum and help them learn. By adding art into the childrren's curriculum at home and accessing their five senses, the more their curriculum will stay with them for life.
