Allergies are quite common today with practically everyone suffering from some form of allergy or the other. It is the overreaction of the immune system to antigens like bee stings, some food, insect stings or pollen that triggers an allergy. There are different types of allergic reactions that manifest itself in different ways in the body.

Allergy can be mild or severe in nature. It is mild when its symptoms are not alarming and with minimal intervention and elimination of the allergen you'll be well. But if a person is experiencing breathing difficulty and altered level of consciousness due to an allergic response, he is in severe case of allergy which is a life threatening condition known as anaphylaxis.

One type of allergic reaction is seasonal allergic rhinitis, or hay fever. This is an allergic response to pollen and other microscopic substances that exist at certain times of the year. There are also conditions where allergic rhinitis works out to be perennial, or year round.

Insect stings is another type of allergic reaction, which is very common. The allergic reaction of the insect sting varies from person to person. Some people are not aware of their allergy to insect stings only they found out if they are stung by the insect. First sting produces only a normal sting reaction only the second sting triggers an allergy reaction.

Allergy to latex is also type of allergic reactions , it is a natural product form the light milky fluid extracted by the rubber tree. A person is allergic to the latex from the latex mixture. Such as making for rubber gloves, balloons, and condoms.

Another types of allergic reactions are the irritant contact dermatitis and allergic contact dermatitis, these could we get from the ingredients in the cosmetics we used like fragrances and preservatives. With cosmetic allergy you will experience skin irritation. Mold allergy is another allergy that does not have exact season as mold and fungi grow in all weather and thrive both indoors and outdoors. Some forms of outdoor mold tend to grow in higher concentrations from spring to late fall.

Some people are allergic to pets; where it is not the pet's feathers or fur that triggers a reaction. It is the invisible flakes of animal skin called dander that triggers sneezing, watery eyes and stuffy noses in some people. When you suffer from food allergies, it means that some food likes peanuts and jalapeos trigger an allergic reaction.

Food allergies are due to sensitivity of some to the ingredients of the food taken. Manifestations include hives, throat and tongue swelling, vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and hypotension.

Acupuncture School

You will never meet a more varied and interesting group of people than you'll find in an acupuncture school. In my class, there are people of all races from at least half a dozen different countries. Some of them had parents who went to Oriental medicine schools themselves, while others never even heard of acupuncture until they reached adulthood. Yet all of them have one thing in common: a passion for traditional Chinese medicine.

In my case, acupuncture school is something that I did not even consider until I was about 30. At that point, I had a successful business career going, and was doing pretty well for myself. Suddenly, I started to develop some health problems. At first it didn't seem like much, but it got worse and worse. Initially I had a few bellyaches, but soon my digestion was acting up all the time. I would get stomach cramps, allergic reactions to food, and anxiety attacks. My doctor tried to tell me that it was nothing. He thought it was just psychosomatic, but I knew that he was wrong. I was enjoying my life, and nothing was going wrong emotionally. Then, on a whim, I went to an acupuncturist.

The particular practitioner I went to had only not gone to acupuncture school. He was a trained masseuse as well, and no matter what the problem, he would begin the session by massaging the patient. He explained that any kind of healing works better when the body is relaxed. I told him about my problem, and he immediately began treatment. I felt better almost immediately. I went back a couple more times to finish the treatments, but by then I was convinced. Traditional Oriental medicine works, and I wanted to study it.

Of course, giving up a successful business career to study in acupuncture school isn't an easy thing to do. A lot of my friends gave me a hard time and tried to talk me out of it at first, but I could not be persuaded. I knew what I wanted to do. I was amazed at the healing possibilities of acupuncture, and I wanted to learn more about it. There are many different acupuncture schools to choose from, which made it a little bit difficult. Some of them are much better than others, and as an outsider it can be hard to find out which have the very best programs.
