Time never seems to be on your side! You can barely make time to do all the extras after talking care of the kids. You don't know where the time goes and now you have to entertain the idea of returning to school or completing your college degree.

Finances are an issue now adding a tuition check to each month's budget does not seem like an option. What do you do? The US Census Bureau reports that about 20% of American families are single-parent households, and in most case the breadwinner is a mother. In addition 95% of the single parents make less than $75,000 a year in income. So, for many going back to school without some form of financial aid is not an option.

According to a United States Department of Labor report, in addition to working full time, the average mom spends another ten hours a day running house hold activities, taking care of family members, cleaning, cooking, washing, buying groceries, playing with the children, running car pools and many other tasks and responsibilities.

There is good news for working parents! There are many programs available to both working moms and dads to support their financial efforts in returning to school. Accredited distance learning universities offer flexible learning options for working parents. Financial resources are also available specifically for this group of parents. There are many government and private programs that have funds for working mothers and single parents.

The first step is to figure what you want to go back to school for. Then, find out the available financial options from the prospective college. This information can be obtained from the college's financial aid office. In-depth Internet research will also yield you various results. In addition, going to the local library and looking through the annual scholarship books is always a good recommendation. One thing to remember though - watch for the deadlines and make sure you submit your application on time. Also determine the application materials that should be submitted such as letters of recommendation or essays and prepare those ahead of time. In addition, be sure to apply for the right scholarships. Some are quite specific in their criteria. For example some scholarships are only available for student in certain areas such as engineering or science.

The next thing is time management. With all your other responsibilities and tasks, adding school to your to-do list be daunting. So, developing and sticking to a routine will help give you and the family some structure. For example you can establish the children's bedtime and stick to it so that after they go to bed you can study without interruptions. You can also get into the habit of getting lunches ready in the evening to save you time in the morning and avoid the rushed feeling. Delegate responsibilities for your family members so that you don't have to feel like you have to do it all alone. This will help you in reducing the stress level and this means more focus in your studying. Keep a calendar or daily planner and use it to monitor events at home, work, and school.

As far as succeeding in your classes, there are a few strategies that you can employ. First, find out what each of your instructors expects from you early in the course. Then, ensure you read the syllabus thoroughly and ask any questions sooner than later. Write down due dates for assignments and exam dates and study ahead of time.

Do not wait for the end of the semester or the night before an assignment is due to start working on an assignment. Create self-deadlines and milestones and work incrementally on projects and papers. Also ensure that you prioritize your school, work, and home activities noting which ones must be attended to first. Pace yourself and don't be afraid to ask questions or to ask for help. In addition, be self-confident - tell yourself you can do it, because you can!

Completing a degree or getting your first diploma can be done by attending a traditional school or one that offers only online programs. Even so, many traditional institutions now offer online learning programs. The only difference is that online universities do not require you to visit a college campus.

Going to school online requires that students are comfortable with doing assignments and learning online. Additionally, they need to be disciplined and do their work in a structured way. Unlike sitting in a classroom, online universities require students to log on to access work and assignments.

Choosing an online program is relatively simple if you know what to look for. Start by searching for accredited universities. This means that the curriculum has been approved and credits can transfer to other universities. Additionally, accredited universities qualify for issuing federal aid to students.

After starting your search, focus on the area for which you want your degree. If you are looking for an online degree in culinary, then dont seek out schools with only one offering. There are online schools that specialize by discipline. Your best bet is to find a school that has a strong program in the degree area you want.

Once you have narrowed your list of online programs that meet your criteria, begin to determine how long it will take you to complete the program. Also, what are the specific requirements you have to meet to graduate. Finally, determine the costs associated with the online degree you are seeking.

After your research is complete, its time to start the application process online. Completing school applications take some time so be sure to begin well in advance of any deadlines. Online schools are sometimes more flexible with admission dates but you should be well aware of class schedules. Making mistakes on your application could delay the process so be careful when completing your work.

Once you complete your online application, classes will begin. Be mindful of when the semester starts and what you will need for your classes. If you are not sure what you will need, check with the school. They have a complete list of all required materials. Lastly, be comfortable with the process of learning online before you begin. Work with a school counselor to understand the process and what is required of you.

Make sure you have a good computer and reliable internet access. Online educators are not very tolerant of assignments that havent been completed because of difficulty accessing the internet. If you have a good computer and reliable internet access, you are ahead of the game and are likely to succeed. Attending school online is a great way to learn. Investigate online learning options and be sure to ask the right questions.

Online degree programs may be a benefit to self-disciplined and independent learners. Accredited institutions offering online studies require students to work hard and maintain a dedication to their chosen program. Limited self-disciplined can make studying online a difficult task. Independence, hard work and a steady pace are required for online learners to reach their degree goals.

Online learners are fully responsible for their academic future. It takes self-discipline to be a good student in the best of circumstances, but online learning places the entire learning experience in the hands of the dedicated student.

Students earning an online degree will need more discipline than needed in traditional academic programs and many students may fall by the wayside without that discipline. The self-disciplined student will enjoy working at an individualized pace, which makes independent learning ideal.

The self-determined learner that is planning for an advanced education will do well whether learning occurs in a traditional classroom setting or in the privacy of home.

An online education can offer many different benefits not offered by other classroom based settings. Here you can learn at your own pace, without having to leave your home. If you work a full time job, this can be the best way for you to learn and also be able to continue working and supporting yourself.

Students who want to learn and have the initiative to learn can do so. An online degree is ideal way for someone to schedule studies in their spare time, but it may also be the ideal way for someone who wants to learn quickly and gain a head start on their studies.

Instead of waiting for the rest of the class to catch up to a certain lesson, someone who is earning their degree online is only responsible for their own studies. This means that a person who is always one step ahead can get their degree in record time.

Whether a student is planning to complete studies in less time, earn a degree in a shorter time, or complete studies at an individualized pace, an online degree program can meet that need. Learning outside the realm of the conventional academic setting can be accomplished through online studies with an accredited college or university. A student's own determination to obtain a degree in a chosen career field makes online learning an accessible and acceptable alternative to traditional learning.

Students are now taking advantage of the opportunity to obtain a degree using online accredited programs. Online studies are ideal for those maintaining full time employment or those who are unable to attend traditional classes to earn a degree. Location is another added benefit for students who live at great distances from a conventional institutions. Online degrees have something to offer everyone and require hard work, dedication and self-motivation.

Whether pursuing a two-year, four-year or a post-graduate degree, you may have considered an online degree program. Online degrees programs offer students the convenience, flexibility, and individualized learning while being able to keep their day jobs to attend school. Everyone has different interests when it comes to career goals and everyone learns at a different pace. Some students are more motivated to succeed than others and may be stimulated by a variety of factors that lead them to success. What is good for one student may not be good for the next student.

To discover what type of classroom setting is right for you - online versus offline, there are many considerations. Take a serious look at the two types of learning options. One option with learning online is convenience, as well as, the many other benefits.

Years ago, people who took correspondence courses were considered a step below those who took traditional courses in the same subject matter. This is not the case anymore. Online education has become more accepted in the workplace and in the rest of the educational world. No longer is it considered the last refuge. Many employers now realize that many individuals can benefit from an online degree - particularly those who work full time and do not have the luxury of quitting their jobs to attend school. There are many benefits to obtaining an online degree and the fact that a person can learn at their own pace as well as during their own time are but two.

One study done by Drexel University compared students who studied online and those who studied in a more traditional setting. The study indicated that the people who took the online courses appeared to be more relaxed than those who were taking traditional courses. This can be conjectured to mean that those who were bound into a tight schedule of studying and learning that was not of their own determination were more stressed out than those who were learning at their own pace.

Online students in the Drexel University study were less stressed and were able to complete their work quicker than the other traditional students. This was attributed to other life demands and aspects of campus and university life. Off-line students stretched the personal limits in an attempt to fit their lives into a class schedule, whereas online students were able to fit their classes into their regular schedules.

For some people, however, the camaraderie at traditional colleges and universities is not something that they are willing to eliminate. Although many colleges and universities are offering online courses that compliment regular classes, younger people in particular like the idea of the more traditional setting. This also works well with anyone who is not self motivated and cannot be trusted to adhere to his studies.

There are both pros and cons to obtaining an online degree. For the most part, if you are a person who wants to fit their classes into your existing schedule and is self motivated, you will do well online. If you are the type of person who needs constant stimulation and attention from others, you may do better studying offline.

There are many benefits associated with earning an online degree through an accredited university. When contemplating an educational degree program, whether an undergraduate degree or post-graduate degree, consider attending an online educational facility. The benefits of an online education include the following:

Convenience- Most people love convenience. We are even willing to pay more money for something that is convenient as we value our time so much. As society continues to streamline and look for more convenient opportunities for everything, it is no wonder that online education is making such a big splash. Few things in life are as convenient as earning a degree online. You do not even have to leave your home - you can study in the privacy of your home on your computer and earn your degree.

Flexibility - One of the biggest benefits about learning online is the flexibility that is afforded students. Students may take their time and learn slowly, or choose to earn a four-year degree in two and a half years by finding the institution that lets you learn online. Learning at an individualized pace allows more time to concentrate on studies versus those who can breeze through their degree work at a faster pace. Flexibility is not to be underrated when it comes to getting an online degree.

Location- Instead of battling inclement weather, you can relax in the luxury of your own home and earn your degree. It does not get much better than that. The location is one of the primary reasons why many people choose to earn their degree online. This means that anyone can earn their degree, without having to get a babysitter and disrupt their entire life.

Expense- Online academic courses generally cost less than those offered in the traditional settings. In addition to tuition, buying meals, fuel, and transportation expenses are eliminated unlike ordinary campus life. Internet access is found in most homes making access to education easier than in the past. Saving money when earning your degree online is quite a benefit.

Enhanced technological abilities - Because you are learning online, you will be brushing up on your technological abilities online. This can only serve you well in the future as our society becomes more dependent upon computers. Studying online actually improves your technological abilities.

Individual attention- Individualized attention is nearly non-existent in traditional classrooms, but when studying online one-to-one communications makes way for that attention. The average college classroom has hundreds of students. Studying online eliminates competition with cohorts and the opportunity for individualized guidance improves. This guidance can be conveniently scheduled to meet your schedule.

These are a few of the benefits of obtaining a degree online. The idea of convenience and the opportunity to study at home are well worth the effort. Advancing your academic education while holding down a full time job or taking care of children will not be easy, but those who study online will appreciate the flexibility and convenience afforded the online student.

You've heard about all the benefits that come with having a college degree, and you've finally decided to go ahead and take some online courses. The next thing you need to do is choose which distance education school out there is the right one for you. There are a lot of institutions offering Internet classes in just about any field you can imagine, so narrowing down your choices requires a bit of thought. Here are a few points to keep in mind.

First, taking classes online means that you are not bound by either time or space. In other words, you don't have to find a distance education school that in your area or one that follows a specific timetable. You can participate in Internet classes offered by any institution in the world, provided that you meet their entrance requirements. So if there's a university in Canada, Australia, or England that has a program you're interested in, you can take the classes without having to move or anything like that. Because of this unique quality associated with online learning, you are free to shop around for the best deals. If the tuition at a particular distance education school is too high for your budget, you can simply continue searching for one with lower rates. This gives you an incredible amount of control over the whole process and ensures that you'll be able to afford your degree while maintaining your current lifestyle.

A second point to keep in mind as you search for the right distance education school is that degree requirements vary -- sometimes significantly -- from place to place. For example, some online learning programs have a residency component, meaning that you have to physically visit the campus at some point during your enrollment. Other programs allow you to complete your degree without ever having to leave your home. It is critical that you familiarize yourself with the graduation requirements of the institution before you enroll so that you don't find yourself faced with a requirement that is impossible for you to meet.

A third point to keep in mind is that not all distance education schools are accredited by a recognized agency. Accreditation is important for people who want to continue studying at the graduate level, as a majority of Master's programs won't accept credits or degrees from non-accredited institutions. In addition, some employers may not consider degrees from non-accredited distance education schools when evaluating potential job candidates. So before you spend your hard-earned money on a degree program, do yourself a favor and check out the schools accreditation status.

There's no question that earning an online degree can help further your academic or professional career; however, it's important to remember that not all distance education schools can do the trick. By conducting a bit of research before you enroll, you'll increase your chances of having a successful experience.
